In nearly 60 years of TIAFT’s existence, there has never been an international meeting on African soil – until now!

Come and join us at the southern tip of our continent from 31st October till 05th November 2020 for the 58th edition of this annual conference, which will be held at The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

South Africa, the ‘cradle of humankind’ is home to a diversity of people and cultures, as well as breathtaking landscapes, animal and plant life.  Cape Town, Africa’s ‘Mother City’, has been hosting hugely successful, high-profile international conferences for a long time. It is renowned for not only its dramatic mountain vistas, ocean views and warm-hearted people, but also for being home to scientific centres of excellence, including two world-class academic teaching hospitals and biomedical research institutions.

We are expecting a large international contingent of delegates, but we also aim to make this meeting ‘an African celebration’. We hope to welcome many delegates from the African continent, so that toxicologists from developed and developing countries can share their valuable knowledge and experiences.

Importantly, we have another TIAFT FIRST: we will be hosting delegates by way of bursaries, from various African countries to attend the conference and we encourage you to support our ‘Africa Network Symposium’, which will take place on Sunday afternoon, 1st November 2020.

As the TIAFT 2020 Host, the Regional Representative in South Africa and on behalf of the Organizing Committee, I assure you that it is our goal to use the Cape Town 2020 meeting and the platform it will provide, to foster international collaboration and mentorship programs and therefore empower Forensic and Clinical Toxicologists from across our continent.

Hosting TIAFT 2020 here will make a significant contribution towards uplifting this important discipline in South Africa and the African continent.

As loyal supporters of TIAFT meetings, this would be a wonderful opportunity for you and your accompanying persons to join us in Cape Town in 2020 and experience for yourself the allure of the ‘Mother City’.

We look forward to your participation in this event – we are inspired and motivated to make it a rewarding and memorable experience!
